Mills Engineers started operating from the Mills family home at Kenmore, Brisbane in 1987. Our vision was to establish a structural engineering consulting company that could provide ideas and solutions for structures that would be economical and buildable, yet still be transparent architecturally, if required. Since 1994, Mills Engineers have provided their professional services from their own office in Bardon, Brisbane, Australia. Mills Engineers have earned recognition in the building industry from Developers, Architects, Builders and Owners for our practical approach to structural design, and our ability to design and detail a wide range of structural materials including concrete, steel, aluminium, timber, brick and block, stone, mud brick and straw bale. We have been primarily involved with the structural design of numerous interesting projects - many of which carry a high profile stature. In recent years, these include:

  • Seaspray Leisure Centre, Zilzie
  • Sirromet Mount Cotton Winery and Tirage Store at Mount Cotton Brisbane.
  • 14,000 square metre warehouse factory at Mica Street Carole Park incorporating 12 metre clear heights and 40 metre by 80 metre clear spans.
  • 18 storey high-rise apartment building in Tank Street, Brisbane
  • Tea House at Binna Burra Lodge Mt Roberts.
  • Re-development of 'Jimmy's on the Mall' restaurant (Queen St) including construction and design of full basements.
  • Design of feature timber trusses at Freycinet Lodge - Tasmania.
  • Remote structural engineering for Eco Resorts at Daydream Island, Heron Island, Lizard Island, Dunk Island, and Silky Oaks Daintree Rainforest Resort.
  • Additions and Extensions to University of Queensland at St Lucia and Gatton campuses and Heron Island Research Station Great Barrier Reef.
